Pericet Nets Firebirds Lone Goal in Loss to Redhawks

Washington, D.C. - The University of the District of Columbia men's soccer team suffered a 3-1 defeat against Roberts Wesleyan College in an East Coast Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon at UDC Turf Field. Despite a strong second-half effort, the Firebirds were unable to overcome an early deficit.

Roberts Wesleyan took an early lead with two quick goals from Tamas Nagy, the first coming in the 12th minute off an assist from Luke Hanes, and the second just three minutes later, assisted by Jack Hopson, putting the Redhawks up 2-0.

UDC fought back in the second half when Ignacio Pericet found the back of the net in the 50th minute, assisted by Ignacio Lopez and Giovanni Campero, cutting the deficit to 2-1. However, Nagy completed his hat-trick in the 75th minute, scoring his third goal of the match with an assist from Micah Cornfield, sealing the 3-1 victory for Roberts Wesleyan.
