Firebirds Battle to 1-1 Draw Against Saints

Buffalo, N.Y - The University of the District of Columbia men's soccer team battled their way to a 1-1 draw against D'Youville College on Saturday in an East Coast Conference (ECC) matchup. Despite taking an early lead, the Firebirds couldn't hold on, as D'Youville equalized in the second half, resulting in a shared point for both teams.

UDC opened the scoring in the 28th minute when forward Santiago Gordillo Martinez converted a penalty kick to give the Firebirds a 1-0 lead. The Firebirds' defense held firm throughout the first half, limiting D'Youville's chances.

D'Youville equalized in the second half, with Paulo Carvalho finding the back of the net in the 70th minute, assisted by Ethan Robinson, leveling the match at 1-1.

Despite several opportunities, both teams were unable to find the winner, and the match ended in a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes of play.
