PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The University of the District of Columbia men's soccer team (8-3-3, 3-2-2 ECC), kept its momentum rolling with a 1-0 victory over Jefferson University on Wednesday afternoon, extending its unbeaten streak to seven straight matches and wrapping up non-conference play for the regular season.
After a scoreless first half, Yamah Nawabi broke through in the 58th minute, netting the match's only goal with an assist from Quinton Ejechi. The Firebirds' defensive unit remained composed throughout, limiting Jefferson's chances and maintaining control in key moments.
Goalkeeper Sergio Becerra recorded three saves to secure the clean sheet — his sixth of the season — as the Firebirds continue to show balance and resilience on both sides of the pitch.
UDC matched Jefferson in total shots (7-7) and held a slight edge in corner kicks (5-4), executing effectively in key moments to secure the win.
With this result, the Firebirds close out non-conference play on a high note and now turn their attention to their final regular season matchup — a home showdown against Molloy University on Saturday, a rematch of last season's ECC Championship Final. A win would secure UDC the right to host the first round of the ECC Playoffs.
