SEVEN FIREBIRDS EARN ECC ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The University of the District of Columbia men's soccer team was well-represented in the 2025 East Coast Conference (ECC) All-Conference selections, with seven Firebirds earning honors following another impressive campaign that saw UDC extend its unbeaten streak to eight matches and reach the ECC Championship Tournament for the third straight season.

Junior midfielder Ignacio Lopez headlined the group, earning a spot on the ECC All-Conference First Team after leading the Firebirds with a team-high 12 points on five goals and two assists, including a game-winner against Daemen.

Defender David Akinsanya was named to the All-Conference Second Team after anchoring the Firebirds' backline that recorded six shutouts this year. 

Five additional Firebirds earned Third Team All-Conference honors,  Alexander Moody-Stuart, Zachary Parker, Alexander Stevens-Lee, Isaiah Daniel and Axel Gamez. Rookie forward Moody-Staurt netted three goals this season — impressively, all three were game-winners, highlighting his knack for clutch performances. Parker totaled eight points with a team-high four assists and two goals, serving as a key playmaker in the midfield. Stevens-Lee contributed one goal and one assist, adding steady presence and versatility in the center of the pitch. Daniel and Gamez also played vital roles in UDC's possession and transition play, giving the Firebirds consistent production from the midfield.

The Firebirds look to take on Mercy University tomorrow in the ECC Championship first round. The game is set for 1:00 pm.
