Simon Andersson Earns East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY - Freshman Simon Andersson of the University of the District of Columbia's men's tennis team received East Coast Conference rookie of the week honors, it was announced Monday, April 2nd.

Andersson (Ystad, Sweden – Sydskanska Gymnasiet) helped the Firebirds go 2-0 this week. Anderson was 2-0 at both No. 5 singles and No. 1 doubles this week, helping the Firebirds go 2-0 for the week in non-conference matches and improve to 11-2 on the season. He won a very tough match on Friday, March 30th, outlasting Sammy Atri of Chestnut Hill College, 6-3, 6-4. Then, on Sunday April 1st, he earned a decisive win over William Metz of the University of Sciences, 6-0, 6-0. He is now 11-1 in singles and 10-2 in doubles play this season.
 
District of Columbia, ranked No. 3 in the East Region, is back in action on April 6th when they begin conference play against No. 2 Queens College at the UDC Tennis Courts. The match, originally scheduled for 3:00 p.m., will now be played at 1:00 p.m.
